David Swimmer became  Chairman of the Board of Main Street Insurance Group when the Swimmer Insurance Agency merged with Main Street in January 2019.  He holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and has over 40 years experience working as a trusted risk manager advisor. He began his career at Swimmer Insurance, the agency created in 1953 by his father Harry Swimmer. In 2019 as President, the Swimmer Insurance Agency proudly merged with Main Street Insurance Group.  David attended: Appalachian State University where he competed on the Gymnastics team, Warren Wilson College, and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1979.  In addition to his commitment to the business of Insurance, David manages a portfolio of affordable housing units owned by him and his family. He is actively in pursuit of intelligent solutions to the housing crisis afflicting less fortunate citizens.  David has served on Boards of Providence Day School, East Mecklenburg High School, First Citizen’s Bank, and the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Charlotte Mecklenburg where he also served as its President. He is currently Vice Chairman of Misty Meadows Mitey Riders, a therapeutic horseback riding program for disabled children.  David and his wife Kirstin and their two children Natalie and Jake are natives of Charlotte
